End of Purpose: When a room (channel or discussion), whether with internal or external members, has concluded its purpose, it should be archived.
Examples of rooms that lived their purpose: Project that was completed; Partner/Customer that is no longer actively working with Rocket.Chat. As a good practice, it’s important to share a message mentioning that the room will be archived before taking the actionproject is complete or a partner/customer relationship ends, archive the associated Rocket.Chat room.
Notification: Before archiving a room, let everyone know by posting a message in the room itself.
Why:
Organization: Archiving keeps Rocket.Chat clean and focused on active projects/relationships.
Clarity: Archiving lets everyone know a room is no longer in use, avoiding confusion.
Steps to archive a channel:
1-Go to Room (Channel/Discussion)
2-Post message related to archiving the room
3-Click on Room information
34-Click on Edit
45-Enable the “Archived” option and move it to the right

56-Confirm the archiving and save the proprieties.
PS: Afterward, the room will still be accessible with a link but will be in a read-only state, and mentioning that it was archived.
