Our onboarding is designed to help you get settled into your new role and immerse yourself in our culture. It consists of four key stages:

#01 | Admission Process

This begins once you accept our offer and concludes once you submit the required documents.

#02 | Pre-Onboarding

Starting from when we send you introductory content and emails, this stage prepares you for your first day. It concludes with a welcome meeting with the People Team.

#03 | Onboarding Certification

During your first three days, you’ll focus on completing some tasks and certifications. These materials will help you understand our tools, processes, and culture.

#04 | Department Onboarding

On your third day, you’ll have a kick-off meeting to dive deeper into your department’s processes and projects. This stage helps you acclimate to your specific role and team.

Your first week

Day 1 | Getting Started

Welcome Meeting: Meet with the People Team to go over processes and key topics outlined in the handbook.

Platform Access: You’ll receive access to your onboarding certifications on KnowBe4 and Workleap—our training platforms. You’ll start working through these certifications to get familiar with Rocket.Chat’s culture and security standards.

Day 3 | Department Onboarding

Your Buddy will guide you through processes, share best practices, and answer any questions you may have. They’ll also share their experiences and insights as a Rocketeer.

While we recommend staying in touch with your Buddy weekly, feel free to reach out to them whenever you need support!

Communication Channels

Rocket.Chat is our primary communication platform, packed with incredible features designed to make collaboration more efficient and effective.

When you’re added to open.rocket.chat, you’ll also be added to some key channels and teams:

Company-wide updates and announcements.

New hires, birthdays, out-of-office lists, referrals opportunities.

Rocket.Chat Clubs.png

Create and join clubs based on your interests besides work (music, pets, etc.). You can start trends, send messages, and share recommendations.

 How many channels are there?

In addition to these three company-wide channels, each department or squad has its own channels, and you'll be added to them as your onboarding progresses.

 How should I communicate?

At Rocket.Chat, we prioritize asynchronous communication to support our global, remote team. This means that responses may not always be immediate, but that’s perfectly okay! You can work at your own pace and rely on clear, thoughtful communication across time zones.

For detailed guidelines on how to communicate effectively in an asynchronous environment, please refer to our handbook.
