Contractors - Equipment subsidy
The following instructions for ordering your laptop and headphones apply to all Contractors hired on any date. This instruction substitutes the agreements that were previously signed by the contractors.

Laptop and Headphone - Applicable to all Contractors (hired at any date)
As part of the Independent Contractor's agreement, the Company will pay a subsidy for ensuring adequate equipment to provide the related hired service.
Subsidy Tiers - Speficiations
For the laptop, you can follow the minimal specifications below, according to 3 tiers (the specifications will be reviewed every year):
Performance
Who needs to run or build the application code, run performance tests, or a high amount of docker containers
Minimal Specification:
Model - Macbook Pro 16" (14" optional)
Processor - M3 Max
RAM – 36GB
Storage – 1TB
Applicable Roles: SW Engineer, SRE, and P.S.
To be renewed after 36 months.
Pro
Who needs to run the compiled application (docker container) or uses heavy software
Minimal Specification:
Model - Macbook Pro 14"
Processor - M3 Pro
RAM – 18GB
Storage – 512GB
Applicable Roles: Engineering Manager, PM, Designer, QA, Technical Writer, Support, Security, BS & Data and C-Levels.
Upgrade to Performance is available under request and company approval
To be renewed after 36 months.
Standard
Who has basic usage like browsing or running light applications
Minimal Specification:
Processor - M3 or Intel Core i7
RAM – 8GB
Storage – 256GB
Applicable Roles: Others
Upgrade to Pro is available under request and company approval
To be renewed after 48 months.
Subsidy Payment
The subsidy amount will be paid on the first day of the beginning of the services in a single payment, which considers the Company's estimates for the purchase of a new notebook and headphones for remote work, as follows:
Performance
For contractors located outside of Brazil: One single payment of $3,500.00 (three thousand and five hundred dollars);
For contractors located in Brazil: a single payment of R$25,000.00 (twenty-five thousand reais) or the equivalent amount in U.S. dollars, based on the exchange rate on the date of contract signing;
Pro
For contractors located outside of Brazil: One single payment of $2,000.00 (two thousand dollars);
For contractors located in Brazil: a single payment of R$16,000.00 (sixteen thousand reais) or the equivalent amount in U.S. dollars, based on the exchange rate on the date of contract signing;
Standard
For contractors located outside of Brazil: One single payment of $1,300.00 (one thousand and three hundred dollars);
For contractors located in Brazil: a single payment of R$10,000.00 (ten thousand reais) or the equivalent amount in U.S. dollars, based on the exchange rate on the date of contract signing;
Headphones Subsidy
Additionally, Rocket.Chat will pay a subsidy to all contractors related to the purchase of headphones.
For contractors located outside of Brazil: One single payment of $80.00 (eighty dollars);
For contractors located in Brazil: One single payment of R$250.00 (two hundred and fifty reais) or the equivalent amount in U.S. dollars, based on the exchange rate on the date of contract signing;
Subsidy Renewal
After the renewal period, the Contractor can verify with their direct leader the need to buy new equipment (and receive a new subsidy amount).
Equipment Ownership
The equipment (notebook and headphones) purchased belongs to the Contractor, who is solely responsible for its careful use and maintenance (no repairs refunds are applicable).
Subsidy Policy Terms and Conditions
Contractor also agrees with the following rules of use of the equipment for the purpose of rendering services in accordance with the Company standards:
Rocket.Chat has the right to unilaterally determine acceptable uses for the equipment, including mandating certain security configurations;
Rocket.Chat reserves the right to change acceptable uses and security policies during the terms of this service agreement;
Contractor must agree with Rocket.Chat privacy policy and apply the necessary procedures as determined in the “Rocket.Chat Handbook”;
The Contractor is fully liable for loss or any damage to the equipment; and
Equipment bought must be new, not used, in order to guarantee standards and security policies.
In the event of an accidental loss or serious damage to your equipment that might interrupt your work for a long period, please contact the Department Head of the area to which you provide services to analyze the situation and its impacts.
By opting to use computer configurations outside the 3 predefined types, or personal computers, the contractor fully acknowledges that there will be no additional total or partial subsidy for equipment alignment within the 36 or 48 months according to the current policy. It is entirely the contractor’s responsibility to ensure the necessary performance of their activities with the chosen computer.
Exceptions to this policy will be solely at Rocket.Chat discretion.
Termination of the Agreement - Applicable to all Contractors (hired at any date)
In the event your service agreement is terminated before the renewal period (please refer to the section above), either by the Contractor or the Company in any circumstances, the proportional amount needed to complete the renewal period should be refunded by the Contractor to the company and will be discounted from the last payment of the agreement by the Company.
When the Agreement terminates, you are required to wipe the machine and re-install the base operating system, and remove any and all software and configurations that were supplied by Rocket.Chat. Evidence or a declaration that the device has been wiped must be provided within 2 weeks of the end of the termination/end of the contract. If the device has not been wiped according to policy, we may act to enforce a remote wipe without notice.
